My review is not of this particular player as much as it is for Audiovox DVD players--based on my experiences with model D1812.
The unit was manufactured in Jan 2005. We purchased it Mar 2005. By June 2005, the unit stopped playing DVD's. It wouldn't even seek the DVD to load it.
Audiovox customer support didn't respond to repeated emails. When we called the customer support number, we were informed that the unit came with a *90* warranty and repair of the unit would incur the $98 standard return fee.
I'm sure they'd just pull a refubed unit off of their shelves and ship it back for the $98. That's a no net loss for them.
It's time to beware of cheap electronics manufactured in China that sport gobbs of features for a relativly low price. What good is it to have built in games, dual headphones, delux carrying case and all the other bells and whistles if it's primary function --play DVD's--doesn't work?
It isn't any good.
And that's why I recommend staying away from *any* Audiovox DVD player. Chances are they same components and manufacturing standards are going into this unit as the one that failed on me.
