Previous reviews have commented on reliability, resolution and audio volume through the speakers. We have not have any problems with reliability, resolution (on the 8" screen and connected to a TV) is just fine, and audio volume through the headphones is adequate even on an airplane (speakers are OK in a room). The unit is not designed for volume through the speakers in a vehicle, so if that's what you are looking for, this isn't it.
What we liked was the 8" screen. We found 7" screens to be too small, and 9" screens to result in a unit that was too bulky. The 8" screen is just right, regardless of whether the image is played in standard 4:3 format or widescreen. Two headphones are great, and having a splitter isn't an issue.
The only issues we've identified is the 2-3 hour battery life (it's OK, but longer life would be better), and the lack of a video patch cable (the adapter is included, but you need to buy a separate cable to connect it to a TV - add $10-$15 for this).
Would I buy this unit again? Without question.
