Lousy product, Lousy company
I purchased a Sony portable DVD player this time last year. Big mistake. It stopped working shortly after the 90 day warranty and Sony would do nothing but let me pay them for a repair/exchange. So I paid for an exchange + Shipping. Then the replacement they sent (same model) would not even turn on...

Best machine
I bought this unit about a year ago it has performed like a sony should a bit pricey then compared to others now but the fun aspect of a portable dvd player slash viewer is phenomenal!I rate this product 5 stars because of the ability to change screenmodes for what or how you care to watch it small..

my favorite toy
Listening to cd's is awesome with the surround sound switch (especially with sony's "studio monitor" headphones which are excellent), and I thought the picture was really good EXCEPT when watching a movie that is NOT enhanced for wide screen. This causes the picture to become blurred and unwatchable..

damaged DVD's
i can't belive it. First, my PS2 ruins a DVD and a Game of mine. Then, this! whats up with sony! I asked them for tips to try to aviod damaging DVD, they didn't give me any except, "don't scrach them." Thanks sony, your tech support is as good as your products..

Disapointing for Sony
The review in "Somewhat Disapointed" is right on the money -- I've compared the Sony unit with the Panasonic seven inch player and the Sony has an average picture at best. The Panasonic has a laser sharp picture. The Sony has great build quality but overall for the price is a disapointment...

Close to perfect, doesn't like cold weather shipping
I'd thought about buying the Sharp but Sony sounded better so Idid some shopping around and found it for (a relatively low price), that took care of the most often heard complaint of high price. The construction of the player seems fine to me, not much you could do to make such a small device better..

this is a good product, i must admit, even though the sound quality is not very good. The only problem i have with this is the price. the only reason the price is so high, is because it has a large wide-screen monitor. When i play my dvd's, they don't even fill the entire screen...
