I got the SD-P1400 after exchanging a defective Mintek player (see my other reviews) that I received for Christmas. Overall I am much more pleased with the Toshiba - I have been using it several nights a week for a couple of months now, and it has performed flawlessly every time. As other here have pointed out it does not feel very "substantial" and the membrane buttons are a bit cheap, but for the money it is a reliable and extremely portable player that comes with a nice selection of accessories included in the price. I use it exclusively with earphones and find the volume to be adequate (be sure to set the audio feature to E.A.M.:Heaphones for a little extra volume) but some might want to invest in a cheap headphone booster that runs on 2 AA batteries - this will get it loud enough to blow you out of the water (they are available online or at local electronics stores for under $20).
