Great Portable for the price

22 Dec, 00:00
First off some of these reviews are way to harsh on this Portable DVD player.

1) Looks like two or three people complained about the lack of DVD's playing and skipping, yet not one mentioned taking the DVD out of the unit, cleaning it and putting it back in. I have noticed on and DVD movie, or DVD game(like XBOX/PS2) for that matter, if there is a finger print or light smudge on the disk it can cause havic with ANY dvd player. Clean the disks people.

2) The audio is just fine. Sure the DVD speakers stink, what do you expect from any speaker that measures a mere 2 inches. Buy yourself a nice set of headphones or some really good PC speakers and your set. I listened/watched Collateral and was amazed at what my cheap 5 dollar memorex headphones sounded like.

3) The player spins dvd's loud, and thats why the 5 star drops to a four star. I think if it has Toshiba on the player the player should be quieter.

But I still have two toshiba TV's (one is 11 years old), and two Toshiba DVD players, all work flawlessly and the craftmenship is top notch so why would I go with anything else?

Oh yeah one other thing, someone did mention that it does not have DVD+r playback, well it does, I tried it and the disk worked fine. As for +RW I have no clue. I also hooked it up to my TV with the S-Video output. Not a bad picture at all, and the sound quality through the TV speakers is what you would expect from any other stand alone DVD player.

Great player and worth the price. A lot of Extra features.
