Like other reviewers, this is my first portable dvd player, and, so far, I am more than satisfied. The picture is very good under less-than-ideal conditions (mostly in cars and trailers on construction sites), and the dual headphones make it easy to watch movies with a buddy, without disturbing others in the room. The battery pack is simple and durable, with the usual recharge time less than 2 hours. Some very minor quibbles:
- The manual is less than detailed on some things, like locating a specific chapter on a dvd.
- The built-in speakers could be a bit louder, they're hard to hear over any kind of background noise (but the sound quality is very good).
- It's important to carefully read instructions regarding the battery pack. The caution to NEVER plug the player into the car adapter while the battery pack is attached, is sort of buried as an afterthought. It should be more prominent than some of the minor hazards repeatedly warned against.
But I still give this unit 5 stars for overall performance and quality (though my buddies and I get a chuckle from the label on the back saying "made in china", on a Japanese product).
