I had wanted a Portable DVD machine for years. I've got everything else so last Christmas, my kin bought me this the SD-1600 portable. What a fabulous machine. I just spent four days in bed sick with the flu. I cannot tell you how many DVDs I watched. I plugged the audio out into the auxilliary input on my Bose Wave radio! WOW, dynamite sound!! I have just purchased a couple of box sets of DVDs from the UK. These DVDs will not play on my regular DVD machine. However, the SD-1600 appears to be region free so I'll plug it into my receiveer and hope that the receivers superior circuitry will sort out giving me an excellent experience.
Two criticisms. The sound from the SD - 1600s built in speakers is unacceptablely poor. I either use headphones on airflights or as I said, the Bose Wave in bed. Second, the drive itself could be a little quieter. Once I get into a film the noise receeds but one DVD in particular kicked up too much noise.
