I looked at lots...Lots...LOTS of portable DVD players in the price range of the Toshiba SD-P1600. I was disappointed in several different ways with most all of them. Some were cheap in appearance and/or flimsy in build. Some had really poor picture quality. Lots of them had very limited viewing angles. I was beginning to accept that I was going to have to come up with more $$$ if I was to get a desirable product.
Then I came across the Toshiba SD-P1600. When I first saw it and handled it, I thought,
" This must be a pricey little unit !" ( The $$$
category I thought I would have to go to to get what I wanted. )
Then I saw the price...Less than $200.00 !!!
Next, I saw the picture...A really $$$ picture!
Viewable angles are very good. The picture is sharp and crisp. Colors accurate. Contrasts
are solid and on the money. What a fantastic picture !
The machine works well with all specified disc formats. Another reviewer complained that it doesn't play "back-up" discs. It does if they are recorded in -R format as specified in the manual.
The only minus for this fabulous player is that the internal speakers produce insufficient volume in noisy settings. But, connect a good quality headset and you're in for a real treat !
I would easily buy this player again. Nothing near its cost even touches it !
