I hate to say it, but this is one rare item (for me) I purchased that stopped working shortly after purchase. My daughter had just started watching a movie on the plane and the screen went blank and the unit shut down. When I pulled the unit out of the carrying case, it was so hot it burned my finger and it smelled as if something had fried inside. It's never worked since. My conclusion is that it was the case (new for this trip) that caused the overheating.
We also had a problem with the headphone jacks which would only play normally when plugged in half-way. If we plugged in all the way, sound shifted to playing through primarily one side only.
